The Forensic Accounting Special Interest Group (FASIG) is devoted to the application of accounting knowledge and skills to issues arising in the context of civil and criminal litigations and investigations. Forensic accounting is also known as litigation support, dispute analysis, litigation services and expert witness services.

The litigation or dispute resolution proceedings can be in any number of areas, such as valuation, damages, building and construction, insolvency, fraud investigation, insurance, trade practices, family law or professional negligence.

The FASIG brings together Chartered Accountants who have an interest in that area of practice variously known as forensic accounting, litigation support, dispute analysis, litigation services, and expert witness services.

The broad aims of the FASIG are to assist Chartered Accountants to maintain high professional standards when acting as forensic accountants, and to promote a better understanding of the value of forensic accounting services to those groups, such as lawyers and the judiciary, who use or rely upon the work of expert accountants.

The FASIG offers support to individuals who possess, or are looking to develop, skills in these areas.
