The Chartered Accountants Program

The Chartered Accountants Program combines innovative postgraduate education with mentored work experience. Graduates are better-educated accountants with superior problem-solving and real world business ability.

Turning graduates into professionals

A university degree is the cornerstone of a professional career. But the professional education that graduates choose to add to their degree makes a real difference to the kind of careers they enjoy and the rewards they receive along the way.

Recent changes to entry standards have opened an even bigger gap between accounting qualifications. That’s why some students choose different, harder subjects. Because the Chartered Accountants Program is a high quality, postgraduate course designed for people who want to go that little bit further.

A focus on results

The key to the Chartered Accountants Program is the combination of high-quality postgraduate education and mentored work experience. The Chartered Accountants Program is the only postgraduate accounting designation that confers a university recognised Graduate Diploma.

Deep learning

Students who consider studying the Chartered Accountants Program have already proven their willingness to go the extra step that separates a Chartered Accountant from an ordinary accountant. The Chartered Accountants Program harnesses that enthusiasm, using the latest technology and proven educational techniques to develop knowledge and skills:

  • It encourages ‘active’ learning through internet-based training and sophisticated case studies run in group sessions. Research proves these techniques deliver better understanding, retention and application than ‘passive’ methods
  • The Chartered Accountants Program uses the latest technology to provide constant assessment and feedback
  • All aspects of Chartered Accountant training are integrated to provide the skills needed to build a career. The business simulations you work on in groups amplify the theoretical training you receive. This learning is further reinforced when you apply it in your workplace

The Rewards

Graduates who successfully complete the Chartered Accountants Program and join the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia become Chartered Accountants. They receive a Graduate Diploma recognised throughout Australia and enjoy exemptions for more than 50 Masters programs.

Why do graduates work that little bit harder for a Chartered Accountant qualification?
Because they believe it provides a better postgraduate education - and so do employers. Over 80% of employers acclaim the Chartered Accoutant qualification for its mix of "international recognition and professional credibility" (Research International 2003).

The Australian Chartered Accountant designation is recognised in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.

Program exemptions

Got postgraduate qualifications? You could be eligible for an exemption in the Chartered Accountants Program. If you’ve completed postgraduate subjects in a Masters of Taxation program at an approved university, you may qualify for one exemption in the Taxation module of the Chartered Accountants Program – you could finish the Program sooner and save money!
